Every ramp installed, every stairlift fitted, and every bathroom transformed represents a meaningful improvement in someone’s daily life. We work closely with homeowners, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to reduce fall risk, improve mobility, and create lasting peace of mind.
Founded on Experience That Matters
GreenLight Mobility was founded and is led by Karen and Gregg Frank, whose backgrounds in mobility and home accessibility have shaped a company grounded in both compassion and clinical expertise. Karen is a licensed physical therapist, and Gregg is a licensed occupational therapist. Together, they are also Licensed Home Improvement Contractors based in northern New Jersey.
They began their rehabilitation careers together in 1990, gaining extensive experience in acute care hospitals, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and home care. Through decades of working directly with patients and families, they recognized a critical gap, as home accessibility solutions were often disconnected from clinical insight and delivered without a truly personalized approach.
From Proven Model to National Opportunity
In 2007, Karen and Gregg founded Back Home Safely, a New Jersey-based home modification company focused on improving safety, accessibility, and fall prevention. Built on a therapist-led approach, the company quickly became a trusted provider for families seeking to age safely in place.
After years of refining their model and seeing the profound impact of their work, they recognized an opportunity to bring their approach to a broader audience. That vision led to the creation of GreenLight Mobility, a franchise designed to deliver their proven systems, clinical foundation, and commitment to quality to communities nationwide.

Gregg and Karen Frank are a licensed occupational and physical therapist who live in northern New Jersey raising their three children. Gregg Frank graduated from Boston University in 1989 with a degree in occupational therapy. He held the position of Home & Community Health Home Modification Network Manager of the American Occupational Therapy Association. He is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist, a designation of the National Association of Home Builders. Gregg is also a licensed Home Improvement Contractor in the state of New Jersey.
Karen Frank graduated from Cornell University in 1987. She then received a degree in physical therapy from Simmons College in 1989. She is a member of the Information Network on Aging.
Karen and Gregg began their rehabilitation careers together in 1990 and have since worked in Acute Care Hospitals, In-Patient and Out-Patient Rehabilitation Centers, Skilled Nursing Facilities and Assisted Living facilities. Karen also worked as a home care physical therapist.

Back Home Safely is a New Jersey‑based home modification company founded by Karen and Gregg Frank, a husband‑and‑wife team of licensed rehabilitation professionals. Karen is a licensed physical therapist (PT) and Certified Fall Prevention Specialist, and Gregg is a licensed occupational therapist (OT) and Certified Aging in Place Specialist. Together, they are also Licensed Home Improvement Contractors, combining clinical expertise with construction know‑how to deliver safe, accessible home environments across.
Since 2007, Back Home Safely has helped families across New Jersey improve home safety, accessibility, and fall prevention through professional home modifications. With more than 30 years of combined experience in occupational and physical therapy, Karen and Gregg specialize in creating safe, accessible homes for older adults who want to age in place and individuals of all ages living with mobility challenges. Their goal is not only to retrofit homes for accessibility, but also to reduce the risk of life‑altering falls and injuries.
The Back Home Safely’s therapist-led team provides FREE comprehensive in‑home safety and accessibility assessments and then designs customized solutions based on each person’s unique functional needs, goals, diagnoses, and living environment. From grab bars, stair lifts, and ramps to bathroom modifications and full accessibility remodels, their skilled carpenters and technicians complete each project with care, professionalism, and attention to detail.
In addition to working directly with clients and their families, Karen and Gregg regularly guest lecture at universities with occupational therapy and physical therapy graduate programs. They also provide educational programs for caregiver groups and continuing education courses (CEUs) for healthcare professionals on home safety, aging in place, and fall prevention.
Creating Safe Home Living Environments for 10,000 Families and Counting
In 2007 Gregg and Karen developed Back Home Safely to focus on their goal of helping people remain living in their own homes despite all obstacles. Along with their team of staff carpenters, they have created safe and accessible environments for over 10,000 New Jersey families. They actively educate occupational therapists, physical therapists, case managers and social workers through interactive presentations on home modifications.
Bringing Their Mission Nationally
In an effort to bring their mission nationally, in 2016 Karen and Gregg developed GreenLight Mobility Franchising. They duplicated their proven model with the goal of training others how to create safe and accessible homes throughout the country as Back Home Safely has done in New Jersey.
