Home Safety Check for Seniors’ Safety

Posted Sun, Jan 25, 2015

The fire department of Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service has launched “Home Safety Check” program for senior citizens in the county to help keep them safe during fire emergencies. Initial results of the free safety evaluations revealed that more than 90 percent of smoke alarms checked during recent home visits to elderly were found to be inoperable due to dead or missing batteries. During the launching of the program, the county executives have highlighted several fire department initiatives aimed at keeping the seniors in the area safe while reminding the people of the life-saving benefits of functional smoke alarms.
