Hand Rail for Indoor Stairs

Project Overview

Todays installation is in Charlotte, NC. Our skillful carpenter completed an additional handrail for indoor stairs to help provide additional supports at an area that is a high risk for falls, the stairs. Typical stairwells only have a hand rail on one side of the stairs but what happens when you need the stability of holding on with both hands? Or you loose function or have weakness in one arm? What if the handrail stops short? Is not a part of the landing? Extending the handrail past the first or last step and along the wall can help with transitioning to the ground or safely to the walker. It can also help cue those with Alzheimer’s, dementia or Parkinson’s for a more safe way to use their stairs. Having the option of handrails on both walls can help! Check out the photo below to see.
