According to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 747,000 Canadians are living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias which is why they are now focused on helping people maintain a safe, dementia-friendly home. Below are some tips. -          Make sure you have fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. -          Install child-proof locks and doorknob covers on cupboards and drawers. -          Remove locks in bedrooms and bathrooms to prevent people with dementia from getting locked.
